Day 1: Glenelg - McLaren Vale (80km)

From Glenelg, today's ride takes you past the beaches of Somerton, Brighton, Hallett Cove, Port Noarlunga and Moana. Along the way, visit galleries, take a swim and enjoy a bite to eat while overlooking the magnificent coastline. At the surf beach of Moana your coastal cycling ends. From here the route takes you inland, along a disused railway track to the town of McLaren Vale in the heart of the McLaren Vale wine region. Spend the afternoon visiting some of the many cellar doors that dot this beautiful wine region. Don't forget to visit the Medlow Confectionery outlet, in the main street and taste the heritage listed chocolate Fruchocs.

Day 2: McLaren Vale to Victor Harbor (60km)
Level: Moderate / Challenging
Leaving McLaren Vale you cycle along the bike track to the historic town of Willunga. If you have arrived on a Saturday morning take the opportunity to stop and enjoy the atmosphere of the Willunga Market, which showcases local produce. After Willunga, for those who are looking to get their heart rate up, the climb up Willunga Hill, a King of The Mountain stage of The Tour Down Under, will be perfect. Once you reach the top of Willunga Hill you cycle through countryside, past dairy farms and orchards that sell various seasonal produce. As you approach the end of today's ride your reward is a spectacular view over Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay and Granite Island.

Day 3: Victor Harbor to Hahndorf (80km)
Level:Moderate
Leaving Victor Harbor you cycle along The Encounter Bikeway, through the coastal town of Port Elliot, an ideal place to spend some time wandering through the shops that line The Strand and Main Street. Visit the famous bakery or just enjoy a coffee or a swim at stunning Horseshoe Bay. After Port Elliot, you continue on the bike path, past Basham Beach, where during the months of June to October, whales can be seen frolicking with their calves. Then, on to Goolwa, situated at the mouth of the River Murray, Australia's longest river. Before leaving Goolwa, enjoy lunch at the historic wharf and a beer from the local brewery. For the next 60km enjoy countryside cycling as through the hamlet of Ashbourne and town of Meadows towards your final destination, the historic tourist town of Hahndorf. Overnight: Hahndorf
Day 4: Hahndorf - Springton (65km)
Level: Moderate
Today starts with a climb out of Hahndorf through the Hills countryside visiting Shaw & Smith, Nepenthe and Bird in Hand wineries, famous for cool climate varieties. Then travel on through big gum countryside through the hills towns of Balhannah, Oakbank, Woodside, Birdwood and Mount Pleasant. Overnight at the historic town of Springton.
Day 5: Springton - Tanunda (45km)
Level: Easy / Moderate
Spend the day riding to the heart of the Barossa Valley. On the way you pass the Collingrove Homestead and the world famous Lindsay Park Stud. Stop at Sculpture Park and take in the spectacular view of the Barossa Valley before descending Menglers Hill, a King of The Mountain stage of the Tour Down Under. If a challenge is what you are looking for, a ride back up Menglers Hill is for you. Visit Rockfords winery and taste one of our favourites, the rare Rockfords Basket Press Shiraz, followed by lunch on the veranda at Charles Melton winery. Overnight: Tanunda
Day 5: Tanunda: The Wine Tour (50km)
Tanunda - Nuriootpa - Angaston - Tanunda
Level: Easy
This ride showcases the best that the Barossa Valley wine region has to offer: fine wines, great food and beautiful countryside. Visit Penfolds and taste a world famous "Grange" or try "Command" at Elderton. The 2004 vintage received a rating by Robert Parker Jr. of 98 points. There are so many wineries to choose from. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Peter Lehmann Winery. Ride to the historic Seppeltsfield winery; visit Maggie Beer's Produce Farm and cycle through the picturesque Barossa towns of Nuriootpa and Angaston. Day 7: Tanunda - Adelaide (80km)
Level: Moderate
Predominantly downhill, you wander back to the city of Adelaide along a picturesque route through Lyndoch and Williamstown leaving the Barossa Valley and then through Kersbrook. Wind your way past the Millbrook Reservoir through the Hill's town of Inglewood and the outer suburb of Tea Tree Gully where you join the Torrens River Linear Park Bikeway which takes you to the centre of the city.
